Particle Assets
This week the time and date for the art meeting was changed to Wednesday. Due to an important prior commitment, I could not meet for the art meeting. Coincidentally, on Wednesday a wire had fallen outside my house rendering me without internet for several days. Due to this, I also missed the design meeting. Once I had access to internet, I got in contact to look at what I was to work on this week. This week I created several particle assets for the game. Jake M. had kindly linked some videos in the discord that explained how to create the assets and any additional information I would need. I spent some time experimenting with brushes in Photoshop to create the perfect textures for the assets. I made a general fire asset, two kinds of embers, a general explosion cloud, a "boost" explosion with movement lines, a cloud ring, and a more stylized explosion ring.
Hours Spent: 3.5 Hours
- Research/Videos: 0.5 hours
- Brush Texture Experimenting/Failed Attempts: 1 hour
- Final Particle Asset Creation: 2 hours

I think the particles assets turned out very well. I tried to stack the layers on top of each other in order to make sure it looked organic and laid out well together. I also wanted to make sure they each looked different enough from one another so the particles don't look the same. I'm not sure how they look in the build but I wouldn't mind creating more particle assets or even practicing with creating assets like these in my free time. I'm really glad that I got to work on this because I didn't know I would have enjoyed it this much.
What Went Wrong:
I am extremely upset that I missed both meetings. I felt guilty for missing the art meeting, but I had an already scheduled commitment at the new meeting time. If I had known my internet would have gone out - and would have been out for several days - I would have tried to work around the commitment on Wednesday or go somewhere Thursday. Well, even if I had found somewhere to go, the pandemic closed several locations that have internet. Overall, this was extremely frustrating to not be able to participate in meetings or be there for my team. I am someone who feels is very aware of how much effort I put in to a team project and I don't want to be a burden to my team. Fortunately, my internet provider was able to make a temporary fix that has allowed me to have internet for now.
Plans for Next Week:
I plan on working more on whatever the team needs of me. I will work on creating various textures for the models, more 3D assets and editing the assets I created already, and possibly work more on the characters if I have additional time. If there are any more particle assets needed, I will also be working on those.
