  • Smog Sea Cloud Refactor: 6 hours
  • Lava Shader and Distortion Effects: 4 hours
Positives:The new Lava was integrated incredibly easily, which was very satisfying after the issues with the clouds. I'm also pretty happy with how the lava turned out, its a solid start and since it is entirely procedural, there is a ton of room for some neat improvements.
Negatives: The new clouds look nice, but not 2 weeks of work nice. Nearly an entire week of work was lost due to how Unity handles lightmaps and global illumination, as my attempt to move the clouds from a singleton-esque render event to a more globally accessible rendered object proved to be near impossible. However, the new environment lighting is nice, and should help designers modify the clouds more easily.
